Parliament has unanimously ratified the appointment of Mr Marvin Sitwala Mwanamwambwa as Deputy Chief Justice of Zambia.

And Parliament also ratified Mr Geoffrey Wamusula Simukoko and Mr David Matongo as members of the Judicial Complaints Authority and the Electoral Commission of Zambia respectively.
Parliament said it was convinced that the trio would add value in their respective appointments and gain public confidence.

PF Senga Hill Member of Parliament (MP) Kapembwa Simbao who moved the motion expressed no doubt that Judge Mwanamwambwa, legal practitioner and consultant Mr Simukoko and politician Mr. Matongo were hard working and credible people with vast experience.

Justice Mwanamwambwa, who until his ratification has been acting Deputy Chief Justice to Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima.

Mr Simbao said the Parliamentary Select Committee was satisfied with the qualifications and character of Justice Mwanamwambwa, Mr. Simukoko and Mr. Matongo respectively.

PF Chitambo MP Mushili Malama in seconding the motion said the Committee was satisfied that the nominees would deliver to the aspirations of the Zambian people.

Mr. Malama however, urged Government to fill vacancies as they occur considering the critical role the judiciary authority and the ECZ play in the social, political and economic platform of the country.

And Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula said he will work closely with the trio.
