Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has warned that his ministry will not tolerate acts of political violence regardless of who is involved.

In a ministerial statement on the incident in Kitwe in which suspected PF cadres attacked UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s entourage, Mr Mwila says this is evident by the action the Police took throughout the incident including the arrest of the suspects.

Mr Mwila says government is saddened by the continued violence among political activists especially that even firearms are being used in public places.

He states that the Zambia Police is adequately equipped to contain all forms of violence in society regardless of the perpetrators.

Mr Mwila says no one is above the law, advising all political parties and civil society organizations to follow the provisions of the law and guidance given to them by security agencies for their own safety.

He adds that Police will uphold the law to the latter.

The Home Affairs Minister states that his ministry will continue to provide security to all people living in Zambia without discrimination.
