Riots rock Livingstone, taxi drivers protest over fuel hike & road tax

Livingstone residents have taken to the streets to protest the recent hike in the price of fuel and road tax.

On Monday, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) adjusted the price of petroleum products by K 1.14 for petrol, K 1.00 for diesel, K 0.71 for kerosene and K 0.99 for low sulphur diesel.
The new prices are now K .74 for petrol, K 7.59 diesel, K 5.40 kerosene and K 10.88 for low sulphur diesel.
According to Zambian news, the situation in Livinstone is bad as both ordinary citizens and taxi drivers are fighting running battles and damaging property.

The Police is using tear gas to disperse Livingstone taxi and mini bus drivers demonstrating against the increase in fuel pump price.
