Meningitis claims three pupils

Meningitis has broken out and three pupils have died at Kabompo High School.

Health Minister, Joseph Kasonde says four out of 55 pupils that have been screened from the same school are receiving treatment at Solwezi General Hospital.

Dr. Kasonde told the media in Lusaka on Wednesday that Kabompo High School has since been closed following the outbreak of the disease.

He has implored all pupils from the school to report to the nearest Hospital for screening.

And World Health Organisation Country Representative, Jacob Mufunda said his organisation will support Zambia financially to combat the disease.

Meningitis is an acute bacteria disease characterised by sudden onset of fever, intense headache, nausea and often vomiting and stiff neck.
