The Immigration Department has arrested a female Congolese national for fraudulently obtaining a Zambian National Registration Card -NRC.

The woman, identified as Patricia Potter Ngwewe, was arrested on Friday, June 26, 2015 for obtaining the NRC under a false name.

 

Immigration spokesperson, Namati Nshinka has told ZNBC News that Ngwewe fraudulently managed to obtain NRC under the name of Patricia Kisola.

Mr Nshinka has explained that the woman was arrested at the Passport Office in Lusaka, when she attempted to apply for a Zambian passport.

He has added that further investigations have revealed that the NRC belongs to Mario Yaluombe.

 

The immigration department has also detained Kayivwa Kisola, who is alleged to have helped Ngwewe obtain the NRC.

Meanwhile, the department has also arrested at least 55 illegal immigrants countrywide, for various immigration-related offences.

This was between Friday, June 26, and Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
