Confirming the development to ZANIS in Kasama today, Northern Province Deputy Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa said the incident happened recently in Namukala village in Chief Tafuna’s area of Mpulungu District.
Mr. Nawa further explained that the body of the deceased by the name of Alase Muzya was found in Kalambo River by some community members who later reported the matter to police around 05: hours.
The body was found with some dip cuts on the body and her private party was bleeding.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the motive behind the killing is not yet established but that investigations have since been intensified in the matter.
Mr. Nawa however revealed that the preliminary investigations by police revealed that the deceased was murdered in her matrimonial house and later dumped into the river as police discovered a trial of blood from her house leading to the River.
He said the police have since detained the husband to the deceased to help them with investigations as he is the prime suspect in the matter.
