Only two bodies out of the ten people that drowned on Luapula River in Nchelenge District on Monday have been retrieved and buried.

Luapula Province Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila has confirmed this to ZANIS in Nchelenge on Wednesday.

However Mr. Namachila said the marine units of the Zambia Police and Zambia Army are on site searching for the remaining bodies.

Mr. Namachila said though all the victims are from Nkole Island in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Zambian marine units are collaborating to ensure that the all bodies are retrieved.

He however observed that limited diving kits and inadequate water transport is hampering the search process as the situation has limited the number of personnel involved in the search.

And acting police spokesperson Esther Katongo has cautioned boat owners to be mindful of the loading capacity of their boats
