The Committee on Estimates has urged government to implement a comprehensive tax reform programme to boost revenue collection in the country.

Committee Chairperson Kennedy Hamudulu says domestic revenue collection is below par.

Mr. Hamudulu, who is also United Party for National Development-UPND Siavonga Member of Parliament, said this in parliament on Tuesday when he presented a report of the Committee on Estimates.

He called on government to formalise the informal sector as one of the measures to boost revenue collection.

And contributing to the debates Patriotic Front-PF Lusaka Central member of Guy Scott said Zambia should upgrade its manufacturing capacity to shift from over consumption of goods produced in other countries.

Dr Scott called for the reduction in interest rates for Zambians to easily borrow for investment.
