Parly applauds the appointment of Chulu as ECZ chair

Parliament has ratified the appointment of Justice Essau Chulu as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

The House has also ratified the appointment of gender activities Emily Sikazwe to serve as Member of the Commission.

 

Parliament has also ratified Nixion Banda as member of the Judicial Complaints Authority.

The ratification follows the appointment of the three by President Edgar Lungu.

 

Presenting the report of the parliament select committee , Chairperson Of the Committee Mwansa Kapeya said the committee had scrutinized the presidential appointees and proved that they are fit for office.

And supporting the motion, Mazabuka Member of parliament Gary Nkombo supported the three presidential appointees because of their rich credentials.

 

And Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa called on Judge Chulu to quickly embark on electoral reforms inorder to reduce on electoral malpractices.

And Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo says the three were well qualified for the positions given to them.

 

Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula says the three appointees were eminently qualified to run the offices.
