Mongu couple shot by five masked robbers

A couple of Mandanga compound in Mongu District of Western Province are battling for their lives after being shot being shot at by suspected masked armed thieves.

 

The couple were shot and critically injured on Sunday night around 21:00 hours by bandits after they broke into their house before stealing K9,000 cash.

Western Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu has identified the victim’s as Gift Sitali the husband aged 54 and his wife Harriet Mwiya aged 42 .

Mr Lungu was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Mongu today.

Mr. Lungu disclosed that Mr Sitali was shot in the back and Mwiya in the stomach  armed five robbers who were masked.

The Commissioner of Police explained that no arrest has been made so far and all the suspects are still on the run.

Mr. Lungu has since appealed to the general public with information about the suspected thieves to report to Police so that they are brought to book.

Both victims are battling for their lives at Lewanika General Hospital where they are nursing serious wounds.
