The United Party for National Development (UPND) has maintained that it will go ahead and effect citizen’s arrest on PF Secretary General Davies Chama for allegedly shooting its member Mushaukwa Mushaukwa once the 48 hours ultimatum it has given the Police has elapsed.

UPND Deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba has dismissed Home Affairs Minister Davies Chama’s insinuation that the party is interfering in the operations of the Police by demanding that Mr Chama be arrested.

Mr Simusama has told Qfm News that government should not intimidate citizens over issues that are clear and justifiable.

He has accused Mr Mwila of trying to shield Mr Chama for allegedly shooting and wounding the UPND member in Mulobezi recently.

Mr. Simusamba states that the UPND will proceed and effect citizen’s arrest on Mr Chama if Police do not arrest him within 48-hours.

Yesterday the UPND gave the Zambia police service a 48-hours ultimatum to bring to book the PF Secretary General for allegedly shooting their member.

But Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila said the UPND has no right to interfere in the operations of the Police, stating that Police will conduct independent investigations into the matter.
