The University of Zambia Lecturers and Researchers Union (UNZALARU) says the go slow by lecturers will continue despite UNZA management paying them their excess teaching load allowances.
UNZALARU President Eustone Chiputa has however told Qfm that the go slow will continue until government gives a clear position on the terminal benefits, gratuity and pensions.
Mr. Chiputa says the union is grateful to the university management for honoring its promise to pay the workers outstanding allowances.
He notes that he is hopeful that those that were not paid on Tuesday will also be paid.
Mr. Chiputa has appealed to government to make it clear to them on the workers’ demands, stating that failure to do so might worsen the situation were lecturers might decide to withhold the exams.
He further states that it is clear that in the next two months, the university will not even in a position to pay salaries.
