POLICE in Lusaka have arrested two people in connection with the Twin Palm Shopping Mall heist in which two bandits were shot dead and K337,000 belonging to Shoprite was stolen.
In a high-strung gun battle characteristic of a Hollywood movie, a lone police officer on Monday shot dead two bandits in the robbery at the shopping mall in Lusaka.
Two other bandits, however, got away with K337,000 snatched from a cash-in-transit security vehicle after a heavy exchange of gun fire.

The money was being transported from Shoprite supermarket.
The fire fight left the policeman and two shop attendants of Subway, Lwandi Kaluba and Nicholas Katingwe, with gunshot wounds.
Lusaka Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that bandit who was shot dead has been identified as Willy Palawama, 35, of Chaisa township.
He was identified by his niece at University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
Ms Katanga named the two suspects detained by police as Matthews Ngulube of Mushili township in Ndola and Isaac Nkhoma of Chaisa township, both aged 25.

Police officers found a cell phone on one of the dead bandits, which led to the arrest of Ngulube and Nkhoma.
“We found a cell phone on the body of one of the deceased and after going through it, it led us to these two,” Ms Katanga said.
Police have detained Ngulube and Nkhoma to help with investigations.
“The deceased was rightly identified by his niece and he is the robber who was armed with an iron bar,” Ms Katanga said.
She also said the get-away vehicle, a Toyota Spacio registration number ACZ 5730, was abandoned at Chelstone’s Obama complex together with two empty cash boxes.
She said investigations have continued.
