TYPHOID outbreak in Lusaka’s Kanyama township. Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde confirmed the development in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.
“Yes, I can confirm the outbreak of the disease. I will only be able to give you details tomorrow [today],” Dr Kasonde said.
Typhoid fever is a bacterial disease spread through contaminated food and water.

And Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health director of Mother and Child Health Caroline Phiri said the area has recently recorded an increase in diarrhoea cases from a named school.
Dr Phiri said in a separate interview that blood samples have since been collected from the affected people.
“I have just received a report which I am yet to fully study but so far the information is that a certain clinic in the township recorded a number of diarrhoea cases from the named school, which has since been closed by the Lusaka City Council,” Dr Phiri said.
