NDOLA City Council has spent K2,500 to bury five unclaimed bodies from Ndola Central Hospital (NCH) mortuary.
Council public relations manager Roy Kuseka in an interview shortly before the burial of the unclaimed bodies yesterday said: “We have mobilised K2,500 to bury the bodies after receiving a notification for unclaimed bodies from Ndola Central Hospital.”
He said K2,500 was used to purchase coffins and other logistics related to burial procedures.
Mr Kuseka said it is good that there is a reduction in the number of unclaimed bodies at Ndola Central Hospital as compared to the last time when the municipality buried 11 bodies.
“The burial exercise for the five unclaimed bodies will be done at Kantolomba cemetery today with the help of our colleagues from the Health department,’’ Mr Kuseka said.
He said the reduction in the number of unclaimed bodies is an indication that people have become more responsible and communication has become effective.
