Four people have died on the spot in a road traffic accident involving a Lusaka bound Power Tools bus while 26 others are
admitted to Kabwe General Hospital.

ZANIS in Kabwe reports that the accident happened near Chindwin Barracks last evening.

Head of Clinical Care at Kabwe General Hospital Victor Kusweje confirmed to ZANIS that one male and three females died on the spot while 26 others are  admitted to the hospital.

Dr Kusweje told Central Province Minister Davis Chisopa that the 26 admitted to the hospital were all in a stable condition.

And some of the accident victims spoken to by ZANIS at the hospital explained that
the accident happened when the bus driver tried to avoid hitting a
cyclist and in the process collided head on with a truck and
overturned.

Meanwhile, Central Province Minister Davis Chisopa who rushed to the accident
scene with Kabwe District Commissioner Patrick Chishala described the
accident as unfortunate.

Mr. Chisopa who confirmed the accident said it was sad that yet again
lives had been lost in an accident caused by a cyclist.

He said he was hopeful that the medical personnel attending to
accident victims will do their best to save the lives of the 26 surviving victims.

It is believed that a body was still trapped under the bus and by 22:00 hours traffic officers were struggling to thoroughly check.
