16-year-old girl accused of stealing K25 000,plasma TV & a samsung phone

A 16-YEAR-OLD Grade Nine pupil of Lusaka’s Mtendere has denied a charge of house-breaking and theft involving K25,000.
The pupil of Vera Chiluba Basic School is charged with burglary and theft.
When the matter came up before principal resident magistrate Kenneth Mulife, the girl said she understood the charge but denied committing the offence.
Particulars are that on March 28 this year, in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting with others, with intent to steal, the accused broke into Alick Banda’s house.
It is further alleged that the girl stole K25,000 cash, a plasma television, and a Samsung cellular phone, the property of Mr Banda.
In another case, an Information Technology (IT) specialist at Zanaco has pleaded not guilty to theft, possession of money suspected to be proceeds of crime and transferring unlawful data.
In this case, Mubiana Mubiana, 35, is charged with three counts of theft by servant, possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, and transferring unlawful data, contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Mubiana said he understood the charge but denied committing the offence.
In the first count, it is alleged that on dates unknown but between January 1 last year and January 31 this year, Mubiana updated balance sheets on accounts of five customers to show that the accounts had money when in fact not.
In the second count, it is alleged that Mubiana, whilst acting together with others, in his capacity as IT administrator, obtained K25,000 property of Zanaco which came into his possession by virtue of his employment.
In the third count, Mubiana is alleged to have been in possession of a Mercedes Benz ML 320, property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
