Suspected thief killed at Mongu Police Commissioner’s residence

A suspected thief  was shot while his three accomplice fled after they attempted to steal a Water Pump worthy K3000 and assorted goods from the Western Province Police Commissioner Standwell Lungu’s  residence.

 

ZANIS reports that  the suspect was shot dead by the armed sentry at the Police Commissioner’s residence.

 

Mr. Lungu disclosed in an interview in Mongu today that the unidentified thief aged about 30 was shot on the shoulder from his residence on Wednesday around 03:20 hours and later died on the way while he was being taken to Lewanika General Hospital.

 

He  Lungu disclosed that his sentry upon hearing some strange noise of water coming out at his residence, went to check on what was happening and only to find four thieves struggling with the Water Pump.

 

He said that this prompted his Sentry to fire one warning gun shot into the air to scare the intruders away but surprisingly the trio continued with their escapades to  steal the water pump and assorted goods.

 

This forced his sentry to shoot directly at the suspects injuring one of them in the shoulder while =his accomplices fled for their dear life. The shot suspect incapacitated  him and rendered him immobile before he was apprehended and died on the way while being taken to Lewanika General Hospital.

 

The stolen item were recovered.

 

Mr. Lungu has since asked the general public to help the Police with the identification of the deceased whose body is lying in Lewanika General Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post-mortem and burial.
