RUNNER Kabange Mupopo pocketed US$ 1,500 after finishing third in the women’s 400 metres finals during the International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) World Challenge League in Jamaica.
Mupopo clocked 52:67 seconds in the race that was won by a Jamaican who finished with a time of 51:43 seconds to get US$3, 000 while Namibia’s Tjipekapora Herunga was in second position timing 52:27 seconds to walk away with US$2, 000.
National coach Douglas Kalembo expressed happiness with Mupopo’s performance as that would help her greatly as she prepares to compete in the Diamond league that starts this Saturday in Qatar.
Kalembo said in an interview that it was the first time the country was taking part in such a big league and that finishing in third position was a sign that Zambia has good athletes.
