ZAMBEZI Portland Cement has awarded its 500 unionised employees a 10 percent salary increment across the board.
Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) general secretary Joseph Chewe said in an interview yesterday that the pay rise awarded to the workers follows successful collective bargaining between management and the union.
He said the lowest paid worker will now be taking home K3,000.
“I can confirm that unionised employees at Zambezi Portland Cement have been awarded 10 percent salary increment. The collective agreement was signed on Friday in Ndola,” Mr Chewe said.
He urged the workers to work hard to reciprocate management’s gesture.
Mr Chewe said MUZ wants Zambians to benefit from investments.
