Poor work attitude worries Minister

Deputy Minister for Community Development, Mother and Child Health Obvious Chisala has urged health workers in some parts of Samfya district to change their attitude towards work.

Mr Chisala, who is also Chilubi Member of Parliament has warned the workers against reporting late for work .

ZANIS reports that Mr Chisala said reporting for work early; showing respect and compassion towards patients by the health workers is the bottom line of quality health care delivery.

 

The Deputy Minister also expressed concern at the poor staffing levels at Shikamushile Rural Health Centre in Samfya district.

He said the trend had contributed greatly to poor quality health service delivery at most health Centres in rural areas.

The Deputy Minister was speaking yesterday when he toured five Rural Health Centres in the Northern part of Samfya district.

 

And Shikamushile Zonal Health Centre In-Charge Edward Kapumpa said the institution is not connected to the national electricity grid and that as a result certain medical equipment such as autoclaves, microscopes, sterilizers and CD4 count machine does not work.

Mr Kapumpa added that the health centre has no running water and the hand pump borehole does not work saying the situation was making it difficult for the health personnel to provide quality service to the patients especially in the labour ward.

He has since appealed to the Government to address  the challenges that the Health centre was facing in order to deliver quality health services for the people in the surrounding community.
