TWO members of the same family have died in a road traffic accident in Chongwe District while ten other family members have been admitted at Chongwe District Hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident.
The accident happened yesterday around 17:30 hours on the Great East Road near Nyangwena Primary School about 18 kilometres away from Chongwe township.
The duo, both residents of Lusaka, died on the spot when a Canter Light Truck Registration number AAV 7861 they were travelling on together with the other family members overturned after it collided with a HIFA Truck Registration number AAC 8940 which was overloaded with bags of charcoal.
The deceased and the other ten family members were travelling to Lusaka from Nyimba in Eastern Province where they had gone to attend a funeral of a relative.
Acting Medical Officer at Chongwe District Hospital Dr. Christabel Mbiiza confirmed the accident yesterday to a ZANIS News Crew that rushed to the hospital and described the condition of the ten victims admitted at the hospital as stable.
Yesterday eight members of the same family were put to rest at Mutumbi cemetery in Lusaka after they perished in a road traffic accident in Kalomo.
