A memorial thanks-giving service was held today to celebrate the life of veteran football commentator Dennis Liwewe who died last year.

Singing of hymns, intercessory prayers and tributes to the late icon characterized the memorial service.

The gathering later proceeded to the Memorial Park where Liwewe is buried, for the unveiling of the tombstone.

And in a vote of thanks after the unveiling of the tombstone, Canon MARK Mfula, who was a close friend of Liwewe, described the late icon as a gifted, God-fearing person.

He is arguably Zambia’s most celebrated football commentator who mesmerised the airwaves with his distinct voice in his 41-year illustrious career.

The late Liwewe is also remembered for the moving tribute he gave to the fallen heroes of the 1993 Gabon air disaster that claimed the entire Zambia national soccer team.
