Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) says phase two of the roll out program for the fast track courts for traffic offences is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2015.

RTSA Information Officer Fredrick Mubanga said the second phase of the roll out project is earmarked for Kitwe, Ndola, Chipata, Livingstone and Kabwe.

This is contained in a press statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Mr Mubanga.

He said fast track courts had proved to be a good vehicle to change suspected bad driver’s attitudes and behaviour.

Mr. Mubanga added that RTSA and the Judiciary department last signed a Memorandum of Understanding to roll out the fast track courts for traffic offences in all the 10 provinces of Zambia.

He further said that the Lusaka fast track court for traffic offences last week convicted and fined about 44 motorists for offences of dangerous driving while 50 others were fined for various traffic offences.

Meanwhile, Mr Mubanga has urged all motorists whose road tax expires on 31st March 2015 to renew in order to avoid charges.
