A SENIOR police officer and his family are gripped with fear after a two-metre dead python was found outside their house at Kabwe’s Chowa Police Camp yesterday morning.
Prospect Police Station officer-in-charge Cosmas Banda was alerted at 06:00 hours by passers-by who found the dead snake at his gate.  Tied to the serpent was a K5 note, a skeleton of a rodent, white beads on its belly and a tin of oil.
Central Province commissioner of police Lillian Kamukoshi who visited the scene said police suspect foul play and that investigations have been launched.
Ms Kamukoshi said people responsible for the act are barbarians and that it is unfortunate that they did not have consideration for Mr Banda’s children.
Around 11:20 hours scores of people who converged on the scene witnessed the burning of the creatures while a visibly shocked Mr Banda and members of his family watched.
