The fuel shortage being experienced in some parts of the country has spread to Kasama town in the Northern province.

A check by ZANIS on March 14th morning found that all the three filling stations in the district have run out of petrol although two of them had diesel in stock.

However, Eugen filling station manager Chilrag Pathak told ZANIS that his company has completely run out of both diesel and petrol and that only kerosene was being sold to members of the public.

He said he has no information when the fuel tanker would deliver the fuel stocks because it is still stuck in the queue at Ndola Oil Refinery.

Mr Pathak has since appealed to the government to do something about the fuel shortage in Kasama so that the transport sector can continue to operate smoothly.

Meanwhile, all the three service stations in Kasama are optimistic of receiving their fuel stocks in the coming days as advance payments towards the procurement of the commodity have already been made.

Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma assured this week that the nation had sufficient fuel reserves and urged motorists not to engage
