Expelled Kasama Central Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says he will only give his position on whether to re-contest the parliamentary next week when he returns from a private visit .
Mr Mwamba told ZANIS in a telephone interview today that he was in South Africa celebrating his 56th Birthday which he said was very important in one’s life.
Mr Mwamba bragged that he does not thrive on politics but on his business which said was doing fine at the moment.
He advised those who are depending on politics to emulate him and other viable businessmen to work hard.
He said politicians should learn to serve the people instead of enriching themselves at the expense of the poor people who need to be liberated.
“ I do not survive from politics. Me, I’m a powerful businessman who ventured in business at a tender age. Tell those who thrive on politics to emulate me and many other giant businessmen in Zambia,”, Mr Mwamba said.
Mr Mwamba maintained that he will state his position concerning the Kasama Central Parliamentary seat which he lost after being expelled by the PF party next week.
Mr Mwamba was expelled from the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) for gross misconduct, indiscipline and bringing the name of the party into disrepute.
Announcing the decision at the party’s secretariat in Lusaka recentry, PF Disciplinary Committee Chairperson, Tutwa Ngulube, said the move was a consequence of Mwamba’s refusal to appear before the disciplinary committee.
Mwamba, who is a former Minister of Defence and his counterpart Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo had fallen out with the Patriotic Front leadership following their decision to endorse and campaign for opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema instead of President Edgar Lungu in the January 20 presidential election.
