THE Ministry of Home Affairs has embarked on a programme to train peer educators in townships countrywide to sensitise the public on dangers of drug abuse, spokesperson Moses Suwali has said.
Mr Suwali said yesterday that Government through the Drug Enforcement Commission has started with Lusaka’s Chibolya and will roll out the training to other townships countrywide
“We have so far trained about 15 peer educators from Chibolya township in Lusaka and as soon as more resources are available, we are rolling out the programme to other parts of the country,” Mr Suwali said.
He said the programme has so far yielded some gains as evidenced by the continued decrease in the abuse of psychotropic substances in Chibolya township.
