Solwezi, March 13, 2015, ZANIS —- Youths in Solwezi district have commended government for embarking on policies and reforms that are towards youth development.
The youths said despite critical trends in the economy that may negatively affect the country, it is gratifying to see government’s commitment to developing the youth regardless of where they are.
A youth representative , Emmanuel Sakulenga says it is good to note that government values the youth as a great asset and human resource factor in the political, social and economic development of any nation.
Mr. Sakulenga said in order for the youth to build a stable and sustainable future there is need to fully utilize them in promoting peace and unity as well as the cultural heritage of the country.
He said youths should be entrusted and equipped with responsibilities of participating in national development.
ZANIS reports that the Solwezi based youth said this in his vote of thanks during youth day commemorations in Solwezi yesterday.
This year’s youth day was commemorated under the theme: the youth, building a stable and sustainable future and in Solwezi Lands Minister Christabel Ngimbu graced the occasion.
Ms Ngimbu has assured government’s continued commitment in placing youth development and empowerment at the centre of its programmes because it recognizes that youths are among the most vulnerable members of society.
She has since directed all councils in North-western province to reserve adequate land for youth development purposes and expressed hope that all developmental plans would include recreation parks and youth skills development centers in all community settlements in the region.
