Lungu confident PF will retain chawama seat

President Edgar Lungu says he is confident that the Patriotic Front candidate Lawrence Sichalwe in the Chiwama Parliamentary By-election will scoop the seat.

Mr. Lungu said this in Lusaka today during the filling in of nominations for the PF candidate at Chawama Basic School.


Mr. Lungu who was at the nomination centre to drum up support for his candidate said Chawama Constituency is close to his heart.

He further called on the electorate to turn up in numbers and choose a candidate of their choice.

Mr. Lungu has also called on the nation to remain peaceful and desist from engaging in all forms of violence ahead of the parliamentary by -elections.

The Head of State pointed out that Zambia the world over is known for maintaining peace and order and must therefore safeguard and nurture it with pride.

Mr. Lungu called on Zambians to defend the integrity of the country and show maturity and responsibility in what they say.

Meanwhile President Lungu said he is this afternoon scheduled to travel to South Africa for further medical examination.

The Head of State stated that he is feeling much better and called on Zambians to remain united.
President Lungu was over the weekend found with high levels of fatigue and malaria.
And PF candidate for Chawama Constituency Lawrence Sichalwe said once elected his main task will be to improve the sanitation and health services in the area.

Mr. Sichalwe said he will ensure that another clinic is constructed in Chawama constituency in order to decongest Chawama clinic.
