———–Hundreds of women from all walks of life this morning turned up at Kaole Stadium in Mansa celebrate the International Women’s Day-IWD.
Speaking when she officiated at the celebrations, Labour and Social Security Deputy Minister Winfridah Kansembe said government is committed to ensuring that men and women are given equal opportunities to realize their potential as outline in the 2014 National Gender Policy.
Ms Kansembe says government will continue to implement programmes in the country that aim at bridging the gap between men and women.
And Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Boniface Chimbwali said government wants to ensure that policies on gender are implemented.
Mr. Chimbwali thanked the women for turning up in numbers and encouraged them to take an active role in the development of the nation.
