Lusaka, March 6, 2015, ZANIS —Government says it will soon upgrade Matero clinic to a first level hospital.
Ministry of Community Development Mother and Child Health deputy minister Obious Chisala said the upgrade of matero clinic will help decongest other hospitals in Lusaka.
Mr. Chisala said the upgrade will further benefit the high catchment population in the area with improved health care services.
He said this today when he made an impromptu inspection at 07. 00 hours on the implementation of health facilities at Matero clinic.
The deputy minister who was accompanied by Director of Community Health Caroline Phiri and other ministry officials expressed disappointment at the poor working culture of health personnel at the clinic.
Mr Chisala however cautioned health workers to refrain from reporting late for work and but instead develop a sense of respect towards patients by reporting early for work.
This was after residents had complained to the minister about the bad working culture and insolence of the health workers at the clinic.
Mr. Chisala however, disclosed that government will soon recruit more health personnel to help alleviate the shortage of manpower at the institution.
