George Nyendwa has been elected Mayor of Lusaka

Chaisa ward 20 Councilor George Nyendwa has been elected Mayor of the City of Lusaka after he went unopposed during mayoral elections this morning.

Mr Nyendwa who is the longest serving councilor in the city of Lusaka was announced as new Lusaka Mayor by Lusaka Town Clerk Alex Mwansa who was returning officer.

And speaking shortly after being declared winner, Mr Nyendwa promised to work hand in hand with his councilors to improve the state of the capital city.

Mayor Nyendwa emphasized that he will address the issue of street vending which is a major challenge in the city.

And former Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata has congratulated the newly appointed mayor for winning the election without unopposed.

Mr Sata who is State House Deputy Minister is confident that the newly elected mayor will deliver to the expectations of the council.

And Kafue Mayor Gibson Sinkala urged Mayor Nyendwa to work closely his councilors to develop the city.
