Govt committed to achieving gender equality

—————–Mwinilunga district Administrative Officer Shayama Mangalilo says government remains committed to achieving uncompromised gender equality.

 

Mr Mangalilo said this is so in that government recognizes and appreciates the positive
contributions women make towards national development.

He was speaking in Mwinilunga district today during the launch of ‘International women’s day’ activity week.

Mr Mangalilo said to achieve gender equality government has strengthened girl child re-entry policy on education adding that sound education is the underlying factor to attaining meaningful and sustainable gender equality.

He noted that there is need for well-coordinated actions to address the increasing high levels of early pregnancies among school going children recorded in the past five years in the district.

Mr Mangalilo observed that if left unchecked, few girls would complete their education resulting in few women placed in higher ranks and decision making positions.

 

He said this would making it difficult for the Nation to achieve gender equality.
