A Police man killed in Mongu

——————–A 42-year-old Police officer of Chibolya Police camp in Mongu district of Western Province has died after being stabbed with a knife by thieves.

The officer identified as Philip Samutela was knifed to death around 04 30 hours, a distance from his home while struggling to retrieve his stolen personal computer and other assorted household items.

This was after three criminals broke into his house in the early hours of yesterday.

Western Province Police Commissioner Standwell Lungu confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mongu today.

Mr. Lungu disclosed that the victim was stabled on his left shoulder and in the ribs and died on the spot.

The Western Province Police Commissioner said that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder and are detained at Mongu Central police custody to assist the police with investigations.

 

Mr Lungu added that a personal computer for the deceased and a knife suspected to have been used in the killing have been recovered.


Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is lying in Lewanika General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
