Muhabi Lungu still performing functions of MMD CEO

Expelled MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu says he still performs functions of party Chief Executive Officer despite having been replaced with former party National treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima.

Mr. Lungu has disclosed to Qfm News in a telephone interview that party’s officials at provincial level still consider him as the MMD National Secretary.

He explains that the fact that the MMD constitution does not allow the party president to expel the National Secretary in the manner party President Nevers Mumba did, he is still giving instructions to party officials at provincial level.

And Mr. Lungu has maintained that for as long as the MMD does not go for a convention in the soonest possible time to change leadership before the 2016 general elections; the former ruling party’s existence will remain at risk.

He says this is because a majority of MMD members do not want Dr. Mumba to remain MMD president.
