Lungu will only undertake beneficial trips – Kalaba

Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba says President Edgar Lungu will only undertake foreign trips which will ultimately result in maximum benefits to the Zambian people through increased foreign direct investment.

Mr Kalaba has told Parliament in a ministerial statement that such v
isits by the Head of State are in the direct interest of the country’s overall development agenda.

He says the President is Zambia’s number one diplomat whose role it is among others to advance the country’s foreign policy.

Mr Kalaba has also explained that the courtesy visits undertaken by President Lungu to Zimbabwe and South Africa were as per African region established practice requiring the new Head of State to pay courtesy calls on the Chairpersons of the African Union , SADC,COMESA and chairpersons of other organs.
