The Zambia under-17 national football team today takes on Nigeria in a must win final group A match at the ongoing 2015 Africa junior tournament in Niger.

A win against the junior Super Eagles will see the Junior Chipolopolo boys storm the semi-finals and automatically book a place at the Chile 2015 world junior championship.

Zambia is third in group A with three points while Nigeria and Guinea have four points apiece but the later leads the group on a superior goal difference while hosts Niger have no point.

A loss or draw for the Chris Kaunda drilled side will see the team out of the competition should Guinea beat or draw with hosts Niger.

And the Junior Chipolopolo boys will go in the deciding group A match against Nigeria without key defenders, Prosper Chilufya and Edward Chimfwembe who have each accumulated two yellow cards.

Meanwhile, the 2015 Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu charity shield semi-finals matches kick off today at the Arthur Davies stadium in Kitwe.

Power Dynamos take on Zanaco in the first game at 12 hours while Nkana takes on Zesco United in the second match at 15:00 hours.

The finals of the charity shield will be played on March 7, 2015 at the venue to be announced later by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The charity shield precedes the official opening of the FAZ/MTN super league as per tradition.

This year’s soccer season opens on March 14, 2015.
