The Zambian Voice has observed that it will be costly for the ruling Patriotic Front in the 2016 general elections if former Vice President Guy Scott is sidelined by President Edgar Lungu’s administration.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says Dr. Scott remains a pillar of the ruling party and still enjoys the confidence of the Zambian people having closely worked with late President Michael Sata.

Mr. Tayali has told Qfm News in an interview that President Edgar Lungu will therefore be sidelining Dr Scott at his own peril.

He says the fact that there is still a vacancy in the position of Defense Minister, it is the hope of the Zambian Voice that President Lungu will appoint the former republican president to the position.

Mr. Tayali says it will not make sense to sideline Dr. Scott over the differences that characterized the PF succession when at the same time President Lungu has decided to reappoint Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa a party member that went to the extent of dragging him to Court.

He says by appointing Dr. Scott to a Cabinet portfolio, President Lungu will in fact earn credibility from the Zambian people besides being assured of victory in next year’s general elections.

Mr. Tayali states that President Lungu should consider placing Dr. Scott in a position where he will be more useful to both government and the ruling PF.

He says Dr. Scott has already demonstrated his capabilities in how he was able to defend government in Parliament as well as speak to the people at a time that required convincing assuring messages.
