— CEEC empowers 35 farmers in Rufunsa District

Rufunsa District Commissioner, Paul Kasongo, says the 35 farmers who were empowered by the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) will be harvesting fish on the 27th of this month.

 

 

Mr. Kasongo stated that farmers in his area last year received funding from CEEC amounting to K3.3 million for the fish farming project.

 

 

The District Commissioner revealed in an interview with ZANIS in Rufunsa District today said that the fish farming project which started late last year in August will be having the second harvest in a fortnight.

 

 

Mr. Kasongo said the initial funding from the CEEC was used to construct 70 fish ponds in the district.

 

 

He disclosed that out 70, the farmers harvested in 65 fish ponds last year with only 5 ponds remaining.

 

And one of the beneficiaries, Felix Mwansa, of the project has expressed happiness for the project and are pledged to pay back the CEEC loan in time after sales.
