DEC Arrests Nakonde men for being in possession of counterfeit USDs

————The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Central Province has arrested two men of Nakonde for being in possession of over 3,000 United States Dollar counterfeit notes.

 

Jerry Kabayo, 25, a taxi driver of Makoma village in Nakonde District has been arrested and jointly charged with Linos Kunda, 26, a driver of Katozi village in Nakonde for allegedly being in possession of 3,500 United States Dollar counterfeit notes in 100 US dollar bills.

 

This was availed in a statement issued to ZANIS by DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo.

 

The duo was intercepted at Pensulo checkpoint in Serenje district enroute to Ndola.

 

Meanwhile, Ms. Katongo said the commission in North-Western Province has also arrested John Mukanda, a peasant farmer of Nyinyoni Area in Mwinilunga district for allegedly  unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 680kg.

She also said Naclay Katoka, 29, of Musele hill of the same district was also arrested for allegedly trafficking in 9.003kg of loose cannabis.

 

And in a related development, Ms. Katongo said the commission has in Central Province arrested Davies Milambo, 34, of Ntala farms along Kapiri-Ndola road for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 385kg.

 

She further said in Southern Province, DEC has arrested Morgan Nakupaisa, 27, a peasant farmer for allegedly unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 28.21kg.

 

Ms. Katongo said all suspects would appear in court soon.
