Newly upgraded Lunzuwa Hydro Power Station to be fully operational

 

Kasama,  February 10, 2015,  ZANIS  ——  Newly upgraded Lunzuwa Hydro Power Station is set to be fully operational by the end of this week.

 

 

Northern Province Permanent Secretary Hlobotha Nkunika  once fully functional, the hydro power station will be able to transmit electricity to Mbala, Mpulungu and Kasama as well as Luapula Province.

 

 

Mr. Nkunika  disclosed that last week, Mbala, Mpulungu and Kasama districts were connected to Lunzuwa Hydro Power Station as part of a testing exercise.

 

 

ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary revealed the development in an interview with  ZANIS in Kasama today.

 

 

Mr. Nkunika said  He said the test power generation was successful and was completed over the weekend.

 

 

He  has since described works at the newly upgraded Hydro Power Station as impressive.

 

 

Lunzuwa Hydro Power Station has been upgraded from 0.75 megawatts to 14.8 at a cost of US$52-million.
