TWO men in Mwansabombwe District have been hospitalised after consuming poisonous roots believed to be sex boosters.
Meanwhile, a seven-day-old infant has escaped death after being dumped in a pit latrine.
Sebastian Chilufya, 34, of Kafusha Village in Mwansabombwe and Jones Mate, 25, of Chansongo Village in the same area are admitted to Kazembe Rural Health Centre after consuming roots believed to be sex boosters.
The two men are messengers in the office of Mwansabombwe District Commissioner, Victor Kasuba.

The duo acquired the roots to enhance their sexual prowess, from Martin Chikumbi, 27, of Chipota Village in the same area.
Luapula Province Police Chief Malcom Mulenga said the victims started vomiting and experienced stomach pains, while the supplier of the roots had been apprehended to help police with investigations.
Meanwhile, the infant, weighing two kilogrammes, was dumped in a pit latrine in Malombola Village of Chief Kasoma’s area in Samfya.
After the infant was heard crying from the latrine, people nearby mobilised themselves and retrieved it.
The people later destroyed the facility, while the infant was taken to Samfya District Hospital where he is admitted as arrangements are being made to have the Social Welfare Department adopt him.
Mr Mulenga confirmed the incident yesterday, saying investigations into the matter were underway.
Elsewhere, a 22-year-old woman of Mukupo Village in Mwense was on Tuesday left unconscious after being beaten by her 35-year-old Congolese husband.
Evelyn Chikoba was beaten by Isaac Ilunga, who suspected her of having multiple love affairs with other men.
Evelyn is admitted to Mambilima Hospital, while Isaac is in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
In another incident, a six-year-old girl of Mulimansofu Village in Kawambwa has been defiled by a 19-year-old man of Chisembe Village in the same district.
The girl was defiled by Nicholas Muombo who took advantage of the victim while her mother was attending a funeral in the same village.
The victim sustained swelling and tenderness on her private parts while Nicholas was arrested and will appear in court soon.
