Lunzua power project in Mpulungu District nears completion

————–Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation-ZESCO says the new Lunzua power project in Mpulungu District of Northern Province currently being constructed at a cost of 52 million dollars is almost complete and will be commissioned soon.


ZESCO Spokesperson, Henry Kapata said the 14.8 watts power project is aimed at improving the reliability and quality of power supply not only to Mpulungu district but the rest of Northern Province.


In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Kapata explained that with the coming of the new project, Northern Province will have the power to trigger vast economic development for the entire country.


He added that the contract of the whole project which was given to China National Electrical Engineering Cooperation in June 2012 is expected to be completed anytime soon.


Mr. Kapata explained that houses for the Lunzua power project staff are almost complete including the administration block for staff.


And Mr. Kapata noted that the business fraternity In Northern province has been facing low voltage of power deeply due to unreliable power supply in the province.
