Mwansabombwe villager escapes lynching


Mwansabombwe/ January 5, 2015,  ZANIS—– A 24 year old man of Chilindi Village in Mwansabombwe District has escaped death after being attacked by unknown people.

 

The man  identified as Joseph Chansa,  on his way back home from the farm,  was attacked by three unknown men who were armed with Pangas and knives around08:00 hours while he was at his Ndobola farm in Mbereshi.

 


ZANIS reports that Luapula Province Police Commissioner, Malcolm Mulenga confirmed the incident in an interview, in Mwansabombwe, today.

 

 

Mr. Mulenga said the victim sustained cuts in the head, private parts and general body pains.

 


He said the victim was later rushed to Mbereshi Mission Hospital where he received medical treatment and has since been discharged.

 


He said a docket has been opened but no arrest has been made and police are still looking into the matter.


He said surprisingly the attackers did not demand for money or anything else from their victim but however still proceeded to attack him.

 


Mr. Mulenga said it is however not clear whether the attack should be associated to rituals but said considering the cuts on his private part, the police cannot rule out anything.

 


He said the victim is still in a confused state of mind due to deep cuts on the head and police will continue with investigations as soon as the victim feels much better.
