Mozambique coach Joao Chissano says the pressure is on Zambia and not The Mambas in Saturday’s penultimate 2015 AFCON Group F qualifier.
The Mambas’ host Zambia in a second-versus-third Group F clash in Maputo, and both sides are tied on 5 points after four rounds of matches played.
“Zambia has always qualified to the Africa Cup, so they are the ones who are under pressure,” Chissano said at training in Maputo on Friday.
“Our fans want to see us beat Zambia and that’s the only pressure we have but we are prepared for it.”
Third placed Mozambique held Zambia to a scoreless draw in the first leg meeting on September 7 in Ndola and so the number two side is feeling the pressure to make amends after a stuttering first leg performance at home.
Meanwhile, Mozambique are unbeaten at home from four games in the qualifiers with Niger the only side to have come away with a 1-1 draw on September 10.
Zambia, though, are unbeaten against Mozambique from fourteen meetings with 11 wins and three draws.
