-Zambezi District Commissioner, Catherine Mukuma, has described late President Michael Sata as a parent who had the love for orphans and widows in the nation.

Ms Mukuma said she would also remember the late President as a person who improved the plight of widows in the district through various government programmes such as social cash transfer among
others.

She told ZANIS in Zambezi that the death of Mr Sata is a blow not only to his family but to the country as a whole.

Ms Mukuma said because of his passion for the womenfolk in the nation, President Sata appointed quite a number of female Cabinet Ministers and District Commissioners during his three years in office.

She also noted that there are a number of developmental programmes that Mr Sata took to Zambezi before his death.

Ms Mukuma cited the construction of the new market under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the street lighting and the on-going rehabilitation of the airstrip in the district as some of the
programmes the late President initiated.

She has since appealed to the public to mourn President Sata with honour and dignity.
