Inferno leaves family homeless in Shiwangandu district

Shiwang`andu, October 31, 2014, ZANIS —- A family of 4 in Lukaka Village in Shiwang`andu District of Muchinga Province whose house was gutted with fire is still homeless since the incident.
The affected family member Benjamin Kateka who confirmed the development in an interview said the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to help his family out of the predicament.
Mr. Kateka said the incident happened on September 17, 2014, when bush fire which was light by unknown people gutted his house at around 12:45 hrs on the material day.
Mr. Kateka said that since the incident day his family has been squatting at his mother`s in-law farm house at the same village.
He said that property worthy K6,500 has been damaged, adding that fortunately no one was hurt.
