Solwezi, October 25 th, 2014, ZANIS —- Government says it is making frantic efforts to ensure that farmers who supplied their maize crop to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA ) are paid on time.
Agriculture and Livestock minister Wilbur Simusa says his ministry and the ministry of finance have given themselves a target to ensure that farmers are paid before that onset of the rain season.
ZANIS reports that the minister said this when he graced this year’s golden jubilee celebrations in Solwezi district yesterday.
Mr Simusa explained that government has meant 60 per cent of budget amount for the strategic maize stock of 500, 000 metric tons has been released and balance amount will be cleared.
He also said every Zambian must embrace patriotism as a national virtue to achieving the country’s goals and objectives.
And 58 independence struggle heroes and heroines were honored with gold medals of distinguished service to development of the nation during this year’s jubilee celebrations.
Among these investitutred were some Chiefs and some civil servants in north western province.
