Kapoko still has cases before court-ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced that even though Henry Kapoko and his accomplices were acquitted recently, he is still appearing for trial before four different courts.

Mr. Moono said the matters for which Mr. Kapoko is appearing in court are related to the alleged theft of over K10 million public funds at the Ministry of Health which was exposed in 2009.

He explained that Mr. Kapoko is facing 20 counts of theft involving over K6.8 million and 49 counts of money laundering and possession of property reasonably suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

This case is before magistrate E. Zulu

This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by ACC Public Relations Officer Timothy Moono.

Mr. Moono said the matter is scheduled for continued trial from 13th to 23rd October, 2014.

In magistrate Aridah Chulu’s court, Mr. Kapoko is facing two counts of abuse of authority of office, one count of theft by public servant involving K1.29 million and three counts of money laundering involving two real estate properties.

Mr. Moono said this matter is scheduled for continued trial on 27th October 2014.

And in magistrate Lameck Ng’ambi’s court, Mr. Kapoko is facing two counts of abuse of authority of office and corrupt practices by public officer and the matter is coming up for ruling on the case to answer on 3rd November, 2014.

Mr. Moono further said Mr. Kapoko is also appearing before magistrate Joshua Banda facing charges of theft by public servant involving K1.9 million. This matter is scheduled for continued trial on 11th  and 12th  October 2014.
